of Faith
The foundational truths we hold as a Spirit-filled body of believers, rooted in Scripture and centered on Jesus Christ.
Explore Our BeliefsPreamble
We, the members of Revive City Church, affirm this Confession of Faith as the foundation of our doctrine and unity. We believe the Scriptures are inspired by God, and this statement expresses essential truths we hold as a Spirit-filled body of believers.
Our 16 Beliefs
Biblical truths that anchor our faith and guide our mission
The Scriptures Inspired
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. It reveals God's will for humanity and is sufficient for salvation and godly living.
2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21; Psalm 19:7-11
The One True God
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—coequal and coeternal. He is the Creator, Redeemer, and Ruler of all.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22; 2 Corinthians 13:14
The Deity and Humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where He reigns today.
Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-3, 14; Acts 2:22-24; Romans 1:3-4; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 1:1-3
The Fall of Man
We believe man was created good and upright in the image of God, but by voluntary transgression fell, bringing sin and death to all. Humanity is now born with a sinful nature and is separated from God.
Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3:1-7; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12-19; Ephesians 2:1-3
The Salvation of Man
We believe salvation is the gift of God through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Through repentance and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, regenerated, justified, and adopted into God's family.
Luke 24:47; John 3:3-7, 16-17; Romans 10:9-10, 13; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 2:11; Titus 3:5-7
The Ordinances of the Church
Water Baptism
We believe water baptism by immersion follows repentance and faith, symbolizing the believer's death to sin and resurrection to new life in Christ.
Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:4
The Lord's Supper
We believe the Lord's Supper is a sacred act of remembrance, proclaiming the death and resurrection of Jesus until He returns.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Luke 22:19-20
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe all believers are entitled to and should eagerly seek the baptism in the Holy Spirit, distinct from salvation. This empowers believers for service and witness, deepens intimacy with God, and produces boldness, spiritual gifts, and greater effectiveness in ministry.
Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-8; Acts 2:1-4, 38-39; Acts 8:12-17; Acts 10:44-46
The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance. The speaking in tongues in this instance is the same in essence as the gift of tongues, but is different in purpose and use.
Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12:4-10; 1 Corinthians 12:28
Sanctification
We believe sanctification is both an instant work of God and a progressive process of becoming more like Christ. It is accomplished by the power of the Holy Spirit as we yield to Him daily, growing in the fruits of the Spirit and in godly character.
John 17:17; Romans 6:1-14; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 12:14; Galatians 5:16-25
The Church and Its Mission
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, composed of all true believers. Its mission is to evangelize the world, worship God, disciple believers, and show compassion to all.
Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:42-47; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 4:11-16
The Ministry
We believe God calls and equips ministers to serve the Church for the equipping of the saints and the advancement of the gospel.
Mark 16:15-20; Acts 13:2-3; Ephesians 4:11-12; 2 Timothy 2:2; Titus 1:5
Divine Healing
We believe divine healing is provided for in Christ's atonement and is available to all believers through faith, prayer, and obedience.
Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17; James 5:14-16; Mark 16:17-18
The Blessed Hope
We believe in the imminent rapture of the Church—the resurrection of the dead in Christ and the translation of those who are alive to meet the Lord in the air.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; John 14:1-3
The Millennial Reign of Christ
We believe that after His return, Jesus Christ will reign on earth for a thousand years, establishing justice, peace, and righteousness.
Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 24:27, 30; Revelation 19:11-16; Revelation 20:1-6
The Final Judgment and Eternal Hell
We believe there will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. All who reject Christ will suffer eternal punishment in hell, a place of everlasting separation from God, prepared for the devil and his angels. Hell is a real and conscious place of eternal torment for those who reject the salvation of Christ.
Matthew 25:31-46; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 20:11-15; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Revelation 14:10-11
The New Heavens and the New Earth
We believe that God will create a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness dwells and where the redeemed will live eternally in His presence.
2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1-4; Revelation 22:1-5; Isaiah 65:17
Jesus Christ
is Lord
We confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We commit to walk together in love, uphold these truths, and live in a manner worthy of our calling until the day of His glorious return.
Philippians 2:9-11; Ephesians 4:1-6
